Dear BUP friends,
 
Our region is going through some difficult times, with temporary isolation and limitations of our freedoms. We hope that you stay healthy and positive in these times and look a head to the times coming after this COVID-19 pandemic. Although things are uncertain, we are still planning for our activities to continues as normal from August and onwards.
 
So, the BUP symposium 2020, among other events in the autumn are still hosted according to plan.
 
We wish you all to stay healthy and keep a good spirit in these hard times. We also hope that you do not miss the opportunity to catch the warming spring sun!

Regeneration 2030 - summit 2020
 
The applications to this years summit is now open and the BUP have 15 reserved seats to the event. Regeneration 2030 is an action oriented meeting of young people, with the aim to mobilize youth to work for a sustainable Nordic and Baltic Sea Region.
  • Open for students and PhD students at BUP member universities. Applicant has to beunder 32 years of age.

Report from project
 
Online conference for the project "Baltic Sea Region Climate Change Curriculum (BSRCCC)"
 
When the COVID-19 pandemic stopped our travels and possibility to meet in person, the planned conference for the project "BSRCCC" had to be changed. So this week we had a successful online conference with 22 participants from all our region.
 
The BSRCCC is project that aims to develop a course module with 15 lectures on the topic of climate change in the Baltic Sea Region.

The BUP Mobility Grant 2020
 
The Baltic University Programme’s Mobility Grant for Young Researchers aims to develop and strengthen the cooperation among young researchers in the Baltic Sea region. The grants is intended for researchers working with sustainable development.
  • Open to PhD students and Postdoc scholarsfrom BUP Member Universities
  • All scientific diciplines are welcomed
  • Two grants are given on 3000€ each

PhD Award 2020
 
The Baltic University Programme's PhD Award, is given to a PhD stundent that is judged to be the most qualified according to the following criteria: inter-/multi disciplinary approach, novelty, innovation, and value for promoting sustainable development.
 
Supervisors nominate their PhD students, which must have defended at a BUP member university during the year 2019. The winner will receive a prize in the form of a diploma and a sum of up to 500€ to cover travel costs and/or accomodation for attending a research conference.

A study lead by our BUP colleuge Yash Chawla from Wroclaw University of Science & Technology are looking into the Public opinion of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: Call for inputs from postgraduate students
 
Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
 
Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals is the largest editorial project on matters related to sustainable development ever undertaken. Nearly 3 000 authors are contributing to all 17 volumes.
We would like to suggest that you let Postgraduate students at your University know about the Encyclopedia, and invite them to contribute to one of the volumes.
 
This will be a nice scientific output, and good for their future career development. The editorial team will offer guidance and advice, making this exercise on academic writing a very good experience to them, hence complementing their training, and also giving a voice to the next generation of scientists, who may be represented on the Encyclopedia. The volumes to which inputs are needed, are:
